Are you trying to think of a new idea for your family holiday which involves a bit more than just lying on a beach? Well then look no further because we, at Original Diving, believe that one of the best family holidays you can have is a diving one.

Learn to dive as a family

We all want to get our hot summer holiday in, particularly with all this rain in London, but when you have a family this starts getting a little more difficult as you try to please everyone. Parents want to relax, children want to go wild. So the perfect way to balance this out is heading off for a 'learning-to-dive family holiday'. The PADI Open Water course takes around four days and is something that parents and children (over the age of 10) can all take part in and it is a lot of fun. Speaking from experience, I learnt to dive with my family and it sticks in my memory as one of the best holidays I have ever had. You do have to do a little bit of classroom work and an exam but it's not hard and at least it keeps everyone busy! If your children are not quite 10 yet, eight year olds plus can take part in the PADI Bubblemaker course which allows them to take their first breath underwater and so will be ready to take the Open Water as soon as they are the right age.

Qualified PADI open water divers

Once you are all qualified, the fun still continues and gets even better. Heading out on your first few dives as a PADI Open Water diver is hugely rewarding and the children will absolutely love it, as will you hopefully. It can be very difficult to find something that a whole family enjoys and can do together and scuba diving might just be that thing for your family.

Future diving holidays…

Now that have had your first family diving holiday, your next summer holiday (or any time of the year for that matter) is going to have a great focus with everyone being able to join in on the same activity. And the beauty of it is that most family diving destinations will take you to some beautiful areas of the world.
