Remote Raja Ampat
Sorido was fantastic. Of course, we are not diving specialists, but it was pretty clear that it was one of the places to go to. Sorido is a great set up, and its sister, Kri, looked good as well although obviously less pampered. So many reefs within 15 minutes boat distance, and even though we did three dives a day there was so much more to do.
Being in such a remote location obviously mandates a good manager set up, and as I mentioned Jim and Julie were very good. Charming, and European attention to detail, and a good foil to the extraordinary, but not "completer finisher", Max Ammer. His story really needs to be made into a film, what with christian values mixed with wild hunts by plane over virgin jungle for WW11 planes, whether Japanese or US! Son Thomas thought he was one of the more charismatic people he had ever met.
James the boat driver was wonderful, and Nathan and the other diver guides were very good at finding all the small stuff - down to pygmy seahorses, and were charming as well.
