The Maha Bhetra is a 90-ft purpose-built Thai cruiser, constructed to the exacting standards of Ed Tuttle, Aman’s extraordinarily gifted architect. Each Aman resort is designed to capture the spirit of its country, and this luxury vessel is no different. There is nothing quite like her, and yet she is clearly Thai. You drift along at a stately eight knots, stretched out on an enormous daybed while some of the world’s most dramatic island scenery slips by. Please note that this boat is only available for private hire and is only available to guest at Amanpuri.

You can take out the Maha Bhetra for up to seven days; it’s up to you whether you venture to the Similans, or to Koh Phi Phi. Both routes offer amazing diving, but while the scenery in Phi Phi is dramatic, probably your best bet for diving is the Similans. The biggest advantage of even a one-day cruise is the chance to visit the dive sites before anyone else – you dive on your own. While there is no dedicated dive area on board, divers are very well catered for; if you don’t dive or want a break from the water, then the daybed is an appealing alternative.
