The Meridian Club Pine Cay

The Meridian Club at Pine Cay is how the Caribbean ought to be - no crowds, no cars and no noise.

The Meridian Club sits on Pine Cay, an 800 acre private island just 20 minutes boat ride from Providenciales. There are 12 individually decorated beachfront suites, each with a sitting area and large window doors leading straight out onto a two mile stretch of powder white sand. There is no air conditioning, but the combination of high ceilings, overhead fans and gentle trade winds are enough to keep the rooms feeling very cool.

The Meridian Club has a dining room in the main clubhouse or guests can choose to dine at one of the tables around the pool. Meals are very informal and a bell rings to signal that the delicious buffet is ready. Afternoon tea and cocktails are also served daily and are a perfect time to meet the other guests, many of whom have been visiting the island for years.

Turks and Caicos' world-class fishing is within easy reach of Pine Cay and there are small sailing boats at guests disposal. Other activities on the island include kayaking up at the 'aquarium', cycling, tennis, snorkelling and diving. It is worth noting that there is no onsite dive centre but with Providenciales only a short boat ride away this is not a problem. Excursions to some of the nearby Cays can also be arranged, but doing as little as possible is very much the priority for most people here.

Why We Love It

The Meridian Club, Turks and Caicos, is all about informality. To quote them: 'We have had only one or two sightings of a tie on Pine Cay in the last ten years.' Best leave the Hermes silk number at home.
