The Hotel do Canal in Horta on Faial is a modern, 4-star hotel and a very comfortable place to spend time. With 103 rooms including twins, doubles, executive rooms and suites, this is not a small, boutique hotel and if you want that it is best to go elsewhere but it does have a charm to it. The rooms are all modern and clean and come equipped with air-conditioning, cable TV, a mini-bar and all the other amenities you would expect from a hotel of this standard.

As one of the larger hotels on the island, Hotel do Canal is also the one with the most facilities. There is a fitness centre with Jacuzzi, sauna and Turkish bath, a beautician and hairdresser where you can also get a massage, parking… the list goes on.

There is only one main restaurant at Hotel do Canal serving buffet breakfasts and a la carte lunches and dinners but there is also a bar and room service. Venture into town for a wider choice of restaurants and make sure that you have a G&T at Peter's!

Why we love it

Make sure you have dinner at the Canto do Doca which is a 1-minute walk from Hotel do Canal where you grill your own meat or fish on a basalt rock.
