Water & Wind: Exclusive Liveaboard in the Azores

The Azores comes into its own in summer, when divers have the chance to glide alongside all manner of large pelagics, from manta rays to blue sharks and even hammerheads if you're very lucky. With such incredible sights at its offshore dive sites, the daily return journeys to the mainland can feel like a waste of precious dive time, which is why Original Diving are so excited to have partnered up with the Water & Wind Liveaboard in the Azores.

It's SO good that we just had to keep it to ourselves - Original Diving is the exclusive partner of the new Water & Wind Liveaboard in the UK.

Seven night itineraries depart from and returning to Sao Miguel. The vessel is a Helia 44 sailing catamaran, with just four twin en suite cabins on board, sleeping up to eight guests. She is also available for Private Charter for groups of friends or families travelling together. Communal areas include a lounge, dining area and space to recline on deck in the sun.

Guests can enjoy two or three dives per day to explore incredible offshore sites. At places like Formigas, Ambrosio and Princess Alice (the Atlantic's most spectacular dive site), visibility is usually excellent (50 metres isn't uncommon), and you have a good chance of clear sightings of big pelagic life - tuna, barracuda, great amber jacks, mobula rays and even whale sharks. You can also expect dusky groupers, stingrays, morey eels and lots of Atlantic fish life. Another hotspot is D. João de Castro bank where you'll feel as though you're diving in sparkling water due to rising bubbles caused by volcanic activity below. Cruising between the dive sites, there is always the chance of passing dolphins, turtles and much more...

The liveaboard is so new that she is still having her final touches perfected in the boatbuilders yard. We've included some images of her sister boat in the gallery to give you a taster of the style and size.

Please note that the minimum certification required for divers onboard is Level 2 (Advanced Open Water Diver or equivalent) with at least 50 logged dives. Guests with less experience are welcome, but may not be permitted to dive all the sites on the schedule. The final day will be spent sailing, snorkelling, whale watching or exploring inland - this non-dive day is flexible, and will be designed to best suit the interests of the group.
