Australia Holidays: An Overview

The vast island of Australia is a country of natural beauty and vivid contrasts both on land and in the seas. Think spectacular landscapes, incredible coral, abundant marine life, UNESCO World Heritage wilderness areas, wildlife that has evolved in isolation for over 50 million years and vibrant, modern cities boasting world famous man-made landmarks such as Sydney Harbour and the iconic Opera House.

There are a number of must-dive trips within Australia from the Great Barrier Reef on the east coast to snorkelling with whale sharks on Ningaloo Reef in Western Australia to the world's most southerly coral reef at Lord Howe Island. Combining diving any (or all) of these with a visit to the vibrant cities and deserted outback is an incredible experience.

Several of the team have been to Australia in recent years and we've been keeping a close eye on the crop of fantastic new lodges that opened recently and have taken the standard of accommodation to another level.

Despite the long flight, don't write Australia off as a family destination - the hospitality on offer makes it ideal for kids.
