Located south of Vitu Levu, Royal Davui Island Resort provides a great base from which to explore the famous surrounding waters of Beqa Lagoon. The private island is 10 acres of tropical lush landscape lapped by crystal clear turquoise waters.
Neill is here to help give you the inside track.
There are just 16 vales dotted around the island offering stunning views of the lagoon and there are four categories: Island Pool, Deluxe Pool, Premium Pool and one Royal Davui Pool Suite. The Island Pool Vales are located on the southern side of the island with wonderful views and have close access to the southern beach. All the vales on the island are designed with a modern pacific feel and have thatched roofs, high ceilings and their very own private plunge pools. They are all equipped with a king size beach bed, private sundeck, air conditioning, and many other amenities.
The Banyan Tree Restaurant & Bar, aptly named as there is a banyan tree ascending up through the middle of the resort, offers an array of cuisine with unique flavours of the Fijian islands and fresh seafood of the South Pacific. It has a very relaxed feel and sunset cocktails are the order of the day.
Aside from the diving, there is not a huge amount more to do on the island itself, but you can enjoy other watersports such as catamaran sailing, paddle boards or sea kayaks to explore the surrounding reefs. It is also possible to go deep-sea fishing or go on a Sand Quay picnic where you are taken to a remote sand bank to enjoy a picnic of your choice in private. For more cultural activities you can take part in the cooking demonstrations or village cultural visits.
Why we love it
This is a tiny private island that feels totally removed from the development on the main island. I can't think of a better place from which to explore the dive sites of Beqa Lagoon!
