Made up of just two incredibly stylish luxury villas - the Horizon Spa Villa and the Beach Villa - perched on a hilltop overlooking the Somosomo Strait, Taveuni Palms is a beautiful place to stay for those looking to get away from it all.
The location couldn't be more stunning; sitting high above the sea, both of the immaculate two-bedroom villas has the most magnificent views out to sea. The Taveuni Palms luxury villas are all about style and privacy. There is no restaurant and no facilities to speak of - instead, life centres around the villas, which are huge.
Each villas has its own acre of land overlooking the sea, with steps down to a private stretch of beach. They both have their own private pools, which are a good size and a personal staff of seven. Your staff waits on you hand and foot.
Each luxury villa has two bedrooms, a living area and lots of space for relaxing outside. The bedrooms have air conditioning and inside/outside bathrooms. Italian tiles, hand polished wooden floors, daybed sofas, hammocks, lofted ceilings, the list of features goes on... this is incredibly stylish living - all white with dark wood and very chic. The living areas have an entertainment centre with flat screen TV (with pre-loaded films - no TV). DVD/CD players preloaded with songs to listen to on the outdoor deck speakers while relaxing. There is no spa but massages and other treatments can be organised in the villas themselves.
The villas have five different dining areas, both indoor and outdoor, where guests can eat, with meals generally cooked in the resort kitchen, although each villa has its own kitchen too. The food is excellent and varied and on demand; as is everything else - there is an intercom so just press the button and order your daquari! All food and soft drinks are included, though alcohol is charged. Rather uniquely though, the owners price the alcohol (and other services such as spa treatments) at almost cost so the extras bill is never going to be too exorbitant.
When it comes to diving, it is run by the lovely Julie at Taveuni Ocean Sports, a local dive centre about a 10 minute drive away. The normal schedule is to be collected at around 8am (very much dependent on the tides so this varies) for a 2-tank dive and back in time for lunch. There is normally an afternoon 2-tank dive as well so you can get a lot of diving done. Away from the diving, the main draw is the natural beauty of the local area - the resort is right by Bouma World Heritage Park which is home to stunning waterfalls and wildlife so great for trekking and nature and the hotel can arrange trekking and tours if you are feeling active. They can also organise guided snorkelling, fishing and all manner of activities. All in all, this is the Taveuni Plams is a perfect place for honeymooners, couples or even families looking for the ultimate in style and seclusion.
The Taveuni Palms is perfect for those looking for the utmost privacy as there are just two villas and each comes with a dedicated staff of seven.
