The Wakaya Club & Spa is arguably one of the best "dive resorts" in the world. It isn’t, of course, a dive resort at all but all your diving is included.

Covering just ten per cent of Wakaya island, Wakaya Club & Spa's ten rooms are surrounded by 2,200 acres of pristine wilderness, chalk white beaches and lagoons - the phrase "getting away from it all" springs to mind.

Designed by renowned architect Bibiana Huber, rooms have been inspired by traditional Fijian style. Cathedral ceilings, woven walls and wooden floors create an understated, yet luxurious Fijian experience, whilst bathrooms with open-air lava rock showers enhance the surrounding environment. It's a hotel that seamlessly manages to combine local design and tradition with modern creature comforts.

The Wakaya reef is a protected marine reserve teeming with an incredible variety of Fijian marine life and colour, accessible direct from the beach. The charming local dive team know the reef extremely well so should be able to find everything from manta rays to hammerheads for you at wonderful dive sites like Homestead and Lion's Den.

Lunch and dinner are announced by the beating of the Fijian drum, its dull 'thunk' calling the lazy guests out of their reverie; breakfast, thoughtfully, is left to you. Every meal is a treat - just a few simple choices that will suit every palate. It really is delicious and there is always a choice of local fresh fish. Weather permitting; every meal is served on the wide shady terrace overlooking the beach.
