Small Hope Bay Lodge

The Small Hope Bay Lodge is run and owned by the same family that built the resort in 1960. You will struggle to find another resort in the Bahamas with such a lively and friendly atmosphere. There is no doubt that the vibe here is something very special.

In 1960, Dick Birch opened Small Hope Bay Lodge, which he built by hand with local materials of coral rock and pine. Today it is still owned and run by his son, Jeff Birch, who continues to create that special atmosphere that sets Small Hope Bay apart from other resorts in the Bahamas.

The cottages are simple but extremely comfortable and located just moments from the water's edge amongst the palm trees. All the furniture is locally made and decorated in beautiful Androsia material. The cottages are either one-bedroom or two-bedroom and there is also a honeymoon cottage, so there is something for everyone. The outside bar and dining area is the perfect place to enjoy a cocktail or beer at the end of a busy day, followed by dinner under the stars. Small Hope is a truly all-inclusive resort so once here you do not have to worry about food or drink, just sit back and enjoy the great atmosphere, whether on the dive boat or at the bar in the evening.

Apart from the atmosphere, what really draws people to this spot is the first-hand knowledge and expertise the team have of diving in this region. There are more than 60 dive sites on the regular Small Hope Bay schedule including shallow reefs, coral gardens, wrecks and of course the breath-taking blue holes. Whether you are learning to dive or experienced this is a great place for a dive holiday. Equally as big a draw as the diving, is bonefishing. Some of the best spots for bonefishing in the Bahamas are located just near to Small Hope Bay, as well as reef fishing and deep-sea fishing with guides that are extremely knowledgeable.

If you are searching for a diving or fishing holiday in a sociable and relaxed atmosphere, this could be the perfect place for you.
