Best Time to Dive in Iceland

Silfra Fissure, Iceland's most popular and well-known dive site, is suitable for diving all year round, but warmer weather between May and October can make the dive even more enjoyable.

If you don't mind a bit of chilly weather and slightly more challenging conditions, then the best time to dive in Iceland would be during winter. Silfra Fissure is less crowded with divers and snorkellers during these colder months, and the experience is equally incredible.

It's important to note that diving Silfra Fissure is tough, so unfortunately, it's unsuitable for beginners. To dive this stunning site, you must have an Open Water and Dry Suit certification, or an Open Water Certification and a logbook listing at least ten drysuit dives that you've completed in the last two years. If you're over 60 years old or have any of the medical issues listed in the Diver Medical document, you must also provide a health certificate with physician approval in order to dive this site. Once you've gathered the correct certifications and documents, you'll be able to experience this one-of-a-kind dive.
