Nusa Penida Diving Holidays: An Overview

Lying just off the east coast of Bali, Nusa Penida is an amazing little island with a lot to offer. Known best for mola mola sightings between July and October, when these stunningly odd fish follow the cold waters up to Crystal Bay, it also has reliable sightings of manta rays year-round at Manta Point. The island itself is also an excellent place to explore, with stunning spots like Kelingking Beach, Diamond Beach and Angel Billabong.

If you find yourself looking for an exciting day trip from Bali, Nusa Penida is one of our favourites. The dives here make for an exhilarating experience, offering a lovely contrast to the calmer shallow reefs around Bali. And when the opportunity to dive with mantas and mola molas is so close, you have to take it!

My highlight: Liveaboard diving across Indonesia is nothing short of spectacular with the world's best coral diving, strong currents (big fish), macro critters, muck, wall dives, sloping reefs, drift dives and in both green and blue water. I dived in Komodo National Park on a liveaboard and experienced the most remote sites including Moyo, Satonda and Sangeang Volcano - I honestly didn’t have one disappointing dive for the whole trip.
