Best Time to Dive in the Banda Islands
The only way to dive around the Banda Islands is via liveaboards, which operate when the sea is calmer. This is generally between April and May or September and October, which is also prime time for seeing migratory whale species, including pilot, blue and sperm whales. Schools of hammerhead sharks are another highlight for divers in the biodiverse Banda Sea, making this the best time to dive in the Banda Islands.
Outside of the best diving months, the weather in the Banda Islands is inconsistent. June and July are the rainiest months and surface conditions can be rough, making diving a no-go.
