Best Time to Dive in Komodo
Komodo experiences a dry season between April and November, and a wet season between December and March. While you can dive all year-round here, the best time to dive in Komodo is during the dry season, in particular between June and October. At this time of year, you can expect excellent visibility (reaching up to 30m), manageable currents and calm waters, creating optimal diving conditions.
During the wet season, Komodo can receive a lot of rain and become very windy, reducing underwater visibility, and causing rough surface conditions and strong currents. When planning your Komodo diving holiday, it's worth bearing in mind that dives can sometimes be cancelled in December and January (the peak rainy season months).
The upside to diving during the wet season? Conditions might be less reliable, but this is the best time to see manta rays, as they gather in large numbers and are drawn to plankton blooms around famous dive sites such as Manta Alley.
