Escaping the tourist track, The Menjangan is a peaceful luxury retreat located on the boundary of Bali Barat National Park – set just away from some of the island’s best diving.

The resort has been designed to reflect the natural environment, with a huge emphasis on living outdoors. Buildings are erected from wood and thatch whilst rooms have wide balconies to watch the surrounding wildlife. Interiors are minimalist with furniture crafted from local wood whilst plush white linens match the colour of the beach. For the ultimate in privacy, stay in The Menjangan Residence, a 1,000 square metre private estate with a cliff-edge private pool and private butler.

Guests can dine on Mediterranean and Indonesian fare above the tree line at The Bali Tower, offering 360 degree views over the National Park towards the volcanoes of Java. For relaxed barefoot barbecue dining and fresh seafood, the Pantai Restaurant is located along the tranquil Sentigi Beach. Private dining can also be arranged in any spot a guest might fancy.

Diving and snorkelling off the shores of Menjangan offers some of the best opportunities to spot colourful coral and marine life in Bali. With seven world-class dive sites just a short boat ride away divers are spoilt for choice and can expect to see everything from sea fans, pygmy seahorses, vivid gorgonians, schools of snapper and reef sharks. The visibility here is also excellent and can reach up to 50 metres, meaning the dramatic reef walls and coral gardens can be seen in perfect detail. The Blue Season Bali dive centre offers a range of PADI courses and the experienced instructors are used to divers of all experience levels.

Alternative activities at the resort include bird watching, trekking or biking through the lush jungle, and horse riding. Less adventurous types will be relieved to know there are cooking classes available and the spa and wellness centre offers a range of rejuvenating treatments in an idyllic ocean-side location.
