Australia at a Glance
Australia is big. Huge in fact. But fear not; we've got your covered with our handy travel guides. Most Aussie adventures begin in Perth, in Western Australia, which is home to the country's largest airport for arrivals. From here, many divers choose to head up the coast to the world-famous Ningaloo Reef, home to various species of turtles, rays and fish. Come from March to August to snorkel with whale sharks, or August to October for humpback whale season. We might be biased, but we think that diving on Australia's West coast is the best diving in the country.
Over to the southeast coast, there's Melbourne, which is often regarded as Australia's most European city and is the epicentre for fashion, cafes and concerts. Continue up north and you'll reach Sydney, a city that needs no introduction. Then, right up north on the east coast is Cairns, which is perfectly situated between the rainforest and the Great Barrier Reef and makes an ideal base for exploring the treasures of Northern Queensland. For those entering the state, Brisbane serves as a gateway, leading to Fraser Island and the captivating beaches of the Sunshine Coast or Gold Coast.
All over Australia, nature beckons. Experience the allure of the Blue Mountains in New South Wales, the grandeur of Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory - where the beauty of the landscape competes with the richness of Aboriginal paintings - and the mythical Uluru (Ayers Rock). South Australia presents Kangaroo Island, where encounters with seals, koalas, wild pigs, emus and kangaroos await. In Victoria, you can embark on the Great Ocean Road for breathtaking panoramas, while Tasmania promises sightings of the elusive devil, alongside an abundance of wallabies, pademelons, echidnas, wombats, quolls, possums and dolphins.
And don't forget to pack your mask and fins. The waters surrounding Australia are famous for their diverse animal life, colourful coral reefs and encounters with large pelagic. And no, we're not just talking about the Great Barrier Reef. There's a world of underwater wonders to discover Down Under.
