Best Time to Dive in Cayman Islands
The Cayman Islands are suitable for diving all year round, although varying weather conditions mean that some months are better than others.
The best time to dive in the Cayman Islands is between December and April, as the islands have said goodbye to hurricane season and hello to warm weather and good visibility underwater. It is important to note, however, that winter - December to February - is peak season and so the islands are at their busiest. If you'd prefer to dive without hordes of tourist, March and April would be better suited.
If you're keen on coral, then the best time to dive in the Cayman Islands is September. This is when the islands' coral begins to spawn, a spectacular phenomenon that draws divers of all abilities to the islands. Coral spawning is best witnessed at night, and this distinctive dive definitely deserves a spot on your diving bucket list.
From the start of June to the end of November, the Cayman Islands experience hurricane season, seeing hot temperatures on land and windier conditions. As such, the seas may be rougher and the visibility in the water can be reduced. While it is safe to travel to the Cayman Islands during hurricane season, we'd avoid the summer months (June to August) as they are the rainiest months of the year (and we understand that your annual leave is precious).
