Tucked away in the Baa Atoll UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, sits Milaidhoo private island resort. With an idyllic setting and fantastic diving this is a great choice for those seeking barefoot luxury and a colourful underwater world.

47 villas and three residences are located on the island. Open thatched roofs bring a true island feel to your room and large, folding glass doors harmonize the indoor and outdoor environments. To maintain the focus on the stunning views, natural hues and minimalist contemporary design feature throughout each space. The Beach Pool Villas sit directly on the soft white sand and offer a large private freshwater pool and a hanging swing, while the Water Pool Villas feature a huge sundeck with steps that lead straight to the ocean. The two Beach Residences and one Ocean Residence are the ultimate in luxury stays, providing spacious seating areas, expansive decks, dedicated butler service and even a private outdoor cinema on their decks.

Three restaurants and two bars cater for a variety of dining styles and tastes at Milaidhoo. Ba'theli Lounge & Restaurant is set on a boat in the lagoon and serves authentic island cuisine in a truly unique setting. Ocean is, as the name implies, right by the ocean and serves casual international meals all day. Shoreline Grill serves tasty meats and fresh seafood in a private beachfront pavilion, or inside the grill restaurant. For drinks the Shoreline Grill Wine Room and the Compass Pool Bar are the places to head.

During your stay at Milaidhoo you'll find a multitude of activities to keep you entertained. From water sports such as kayaking to yoga classes, relaxing in the library or simply lounging on the beautiful beach, there is something for everyone. You can even go on a boat trip to a visit a local village community and spot some dolphins swimming on route.

However, for us the real treat here is the diving. Milaidhoo's experienced dive team can cater for all abilities and are all incredibly passionate about sharing their love for the colourful underwater world here. Aside from simply diving the team are also involved in a number of conservation projects, helping to rescue turtles and recording the various marine life they spot, as well as maintain a coral nursery. Manta rays, octopus, bluestripe snappers, nudibranchs, white spotted guitar fish and frogfish are among the species you might expect to spot.
