When is the Best Time to Dive in Egypt?

The best time to dive in Egypt is generally between March and May or September and November, when both land and water temperatures are at their most comfortable, and visibility is best. In the summer months (June to August), the air temperature tends to be very hot - often reaching 40°C - making sightseeing and other land-based activities less pleasant. Between December and February, the water is at its coolest (dropping to around 22°C), so we wouldn't recommend visiting - unless you're a keen cool water diver, of course.

The best time to see hammerhead sharks in Egypt's Red Sea is between June and September, when the water is at its warmest. Whale sharks are also most commonly spotted in summer, between May and August, but we'd avoid visiting in July and August, when the air temperatures are at their highest. Whitetip reef sharks and grey sharks can be found in the Red Sea too, particularly in the autumn. No matter the time of year, there's always plenty of colourful coral and some fascinating wrecks to see in Egypt's waters, with visibility at its best in the spring and autumn.
