California Dreaming Dive Site: An Overview
Just off the coast of Lembeh Island in the Lembeh Strait, California Dreaming is a stunning dive site with interesting underwater topography and beautiful scenery. A must-visit for budding underwater photographers, this site is renowned for its colourful soft corals and impressive gorgonian sea fans.
California Dreaming is a thriving seamount close to Pulau Putus, with two rocky peaks separated by a flat sand and rubble channel. A typical dive brings divers through the channel and down a series of steps, which are covered in soft coral-encrusted boulders.
The shallows are home to myriad interesting creatures such as boxer crabs and giant frogfish, whereas the deeper sections host large gorgonian sea fans inhabited by minuscule pygmy seahorses. It's also not unusual to encounter passing tuna and mackerel when diving in California Dreaming, as well as turtles.
