The Oman Explorer

The Oman Explorer has been travelling to Oman’s top dive spots since 2011, offering divers the opportunity to live aboard and experience some truly stunning coral and marine life while enjoying breathtaking mountain views. With both northern and southern tours seasonally, this spacious liveaboard accommodates 22 divers in 11 comfortable cabins.

The vessel features a spacious dive deck, air-conditioned saloon and a large sun deck with shaded areas and ample seating. Guests stay in ten double cabins on the upper and lower decks, plus a master cabin. Each cabin is equipped with air conditioning, a fan, cupboard, bathroom with shower and toilet, and twin beds. The master cabin boasts a king-size bed, fridge and TV, as well.

The Oman Explorer offers full board, including coffee, tea, juice, water and snacks, with beer and wine available for purchase. Meals are typically served buffet-style in the air-conditioned salon.

When it comes to diving, you can enjoy up to four dives daily, including night dives (excluding embarkation and disembarkation days where no dives are offered), and nitrox is available for a fee. With over 1,000 fish species in the surrounding waters, divers can expect to encounter everything from rare moray eels to leopard sharks, manta rays and dolphins alongside darting reef fish, all within accessible depths ranging from 15-30m. In the southern Hallaniyat Islands, divers might even hear whale songs from resident humpback whales. Non-diving activities include relaxing on the sun deck or snorkelling on secluded beaches.

The Oman Explorer offers seven or ten-day itineraries to the Hallaniyat Islands, Daymaniyat Islands or Musandam Peninsula. Dive sites around the Musandam Peninsula feature walls up to 20m, caves and extensive coral gardens. The Daymaniyat Islands are known for their coral reefs, which cover 70% of the seabed and are a protected nature reserve and important turtle nesting site. The lesser-known Hallaniyat Islands are an undiscovered gem with untouched dive sites, wrecks and the chance to see humpback whales if visited from November to March.
