They say you never forget your first dive, and no truer is the
case than with the Maldives.
If you're introducing the family to diving we know which islands
have the best house reefs (accessible from the shores, naturally).
There are also plenty of opportunities for more experienced divers
too, including diving in the deeper channel between islands where
currents can be stronger and pelagics congregate. Sprinkle on some
of the most sought after marine encounters (think: hundreds of
manta rays, whale sharks and more), and needless to say, the whole
family will be hooked.
It's not just the diving that excels for families, the Maldives
shoots it out of the park with its resorts, with family-friendly
villas (dedicated babysitters are the norm here), excellent kids
centres offering just about everything (think: Junior Marine
Biologist programmes, sailing, alfresco cinema nights and even
discos for the teens) and a whole host of restaurants to suit the
fussiest tastes (one hotel even has 42 flavours of ice cream). Not
to forget powder-white beaches and calm turquoise lagoons ideal for
swimming with babies. Plus, there are direct flights from the UK
between October to the end of March so families can start their
diving holiday stress-free, Maldives style.
