Having read a lot about it both in our book Dive in Style and on the internet, I was extremely excited to be heading out there in early July to review Amanwana on Moyo Island. My expectations were high with it featuring as one of only 26 properties in the book, but from the moment I arrived until the moment I left I was not disappointed.

Amanwana is located around an hour's flight east of Bali, on the island of Moyo. It is difficult to imagine in the hustle and bustle of London life quite how remote a place can feel until you land on the water in front of this jungley, white beach paradise. Barely visible from the water are the 20 'tents' arranged just behind the beach under the high canopy of the tropical forest. Now when I say tents, this should be taken very lightly since I have certainly never been in a tent quite like this! They are extremely luxurious with a huge amount of space, big comfy beds and daybeds to relax in the day if the heat outside gets too much.

The resort itself is at harmony with all the surrounding nature, and there is plenty of it which is rare to find these days. Whether it is a group of monkeys playing on top of your tent in the morning, the deer that comes to the restaurant at night for some apple bites or the reef sharks, turtles and sea snakes that can be found on the house reef, just 50 metres in front of your tent, this camp is extremely special.

Coral at Amanwana There is no doubt that the diving here defines dive in style.

Private groups only are taken out in the extremely comfortable boat to one of the nearby dive sites. Just 10 minutes by boat is Pajang Reef with a huge variety of beautiful corals from giant elephant ear coral to huge brain coral: it is extremely impressive. There are not a huge amount of sites close to the resort but plenty to keep you occupied for a dive or two per day. If you want more variety, combine a few nights at Amanwana with a cruise on board Amanikan to the Komodo National Park, Aman's stunning luxury liveaboard. Tim Simond, author of Dive in Style, says that if he had one more trip in him, this would be it. Amazing diving, pure luxury and incredible service: the essence of Dive in Style.
