Luxury Diving in Mexico

Since Mexico is well-versed in luxury escapes, you'll find all manner of outstanding hotels close to the best dive sites. Whether you choose to stay at the Viceroy Riviera Maya (just outside of Playa Del Carmen), Posada de las Flores (a boutique hotel in La Paz), or one of our other favourites, we have no doubt you'll sleep soundly after a day of diving.

Both Playa Del Carmen and La Paz are home to wonderful dive sites, each offering different underwater experiences. Playa Del Carmen has numerous spots that are a short boat ride from the shore, with beautiful coral gardens at sites like Cerebros and Moc-Che Deep. While La Paz also has wonderful reefs, it's a good destination for divers looking to encounter larger creatures, such as hammerhead sharks, whale sharks and manta rays at El Bajo, as well as sea lions at Los Islotes.

Socorro Island and Guadalupe, two of Mexico's greatest dive destinations, are only accessible via liveaboard. For luxury diving in Mexico, we highly recommend staying aboard the Nautilus Belle Amie, a gorgeous 135ft liveaboard with world-class amenities.

Socorro Island, on the remote Revillagigedo Archipelago, is known for its manta ray and shark encounters, with no less than ten species of shark found in the area. Guadelupe on the other hand, is renowned primarily for great white sharks, although you may spot Californian sea lions, northern elephant seals and Guadalupe fur seals in the water.

A luxury diving holiday to Mexico doesn't have to be all about diving. On rest days, you could find yourself exploring enchanting cenotes, visiting Mayan temples or simply relaxing on the beach. It's also possible to explore several areas of Mexico during a single trip, such as combining a relaxing stay in La Paz with a few days diving on Socorro Island.
